Healthcare Symposium 2007:
Breast Cancer Awareness & Good Food for Health
Another theme is Supporting dietary change in young
survivors of breast cancer. (More
themes to be discussed.)
This workshop offers young breast cancer survivors an
opportunity to experience food
on all dimensions. Participants can attend workshops on
healthy cooking. The program
will also offer social and interactive hands-on food
skills; personal reflection and
mindful eating; the opportunity to be connected to local
food sources; and interactive
discussions about key issues related to food and the
environment.
Participants are encouraged and supported to make and
sustain self-directed changes to
their diet. When good food is associated with nurturance
we are motivated to eat well.
The conference also provides useful, practical
information for:
Social workers, psychologists and psychosocial oncology
specialists
Oncology nurses and nurse practitioners
Breast cancer patient support organizations and
advocates
Medical and radiation oncologists
Breast surgeons and reconstruction specialists
Reproductive endocrinologists and fertility specialists
Genetic counselors and geneticists
Physical therapists and rehabilitation specialists
Gynecologists and women's health practitioners
